Chrysalis Ceramic Exhibit by Madalyn Loring

Monday, March 27, 2017 - 4:32pm - About the Artist Madalyn Lorning was raised in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended Roosevelt High School. Her mother encouraged her to enroll in wheel-throwing classes at the Des Moines Art Center at the age of thirteen. Madalyn will graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in May of 2017, with a double major in Bachelors of Fine Arts-Ceramics and Art Education. The UNI experience has sharpened her skills in the ceramic- related field. Madalyn serves as the lab monitor for the UNI Ceramic Studio and has learned the hands-on process of maintaining the facility. After graduation, she intends to obtain an MFA and teach ceramics. ‚ÄčArt Gay-la!

Monday, March 27, 2017 - 3:28pm - Art Gay-la! The LGBT* Center and Rod Library are partnering together to host this year's Art Gay-la. Be sure to stop by the lounge near the West entrance of the Rod Library to see the art displayed from April 3-9. You can also vote for "Audience Choice," which will have the opportunity to be on permanent display in the LGBT* Center as a special featured piece. The voting box is located in the Art Gay-la exhibit. The art submissions represent LGBTQ-related themes of all mediums. The art will be on display for UNI Pride Week, as well as the weekend after for the UNI and Cedar Valley community to view and enjoy. West African Drum Ensemble Performance

Monday, March 27, 2017 - 3:23pm - In conjunction with Ballroom Bash: Iowa's Rock 'n' Roll Legacy, the West African Drum Ensemble will be performing at the UNI Museum, Thursday, April 20, at 5 p.m. This performance and lecture will explore the historic origins of Rock 'n' Roll rhythms and beats and how these sounds have evolved over time.

Tuesday, March 21, 2017 - 10:00am - There’s someone who you should know and her name is Angie Cox, Assistant Professor of Library Services/Instruction & Liaison Librarian. Angie teaches a relatively new course called Beyond Google and is the librarian liaison for a many departments across campus, while also working one-on-one with students in need of research help. The collection includes leisure materials such as popular reading, video, and audiobooks and is updated regularly with new materials. You will find the CFPL@UNI collection located near the Book Bistro on the main floor of the Rod Library. CFPL@UNI collection is a joint project between the Cedar Falls Public Library and Rod Library, and adds value for our patrons by providing leisure materials in an academic library setting.
