Library Ambassadors Program

The objective of the Rod Library Ambassadors program is to share the library's experience with current and prospective students, their families, and the UNI community. These volunteers will advocate for the perspectives of students through conversation and example. The program promotes the integration of Rod Library into the campus community and serves as a leadership experience for students.

I am an international student and this is my senior year at UNI. I love how our library is so friendly and student-focused. I also love the available spaces and staff who are eager to help students. I applied to be a Library Ambassador to share my love for learning at Rod Library and to keep fellow students informed of our awesome events and services.

To me, the library is like my home. I work, study, sleep and eat here! I became an ambassador because I wanted to expose every UNI student to the capability and resources the library has and is willing to offer to help everyone succeed. The truth is that most students don’t know the library is very digital and is beyond all the books and materials physically present and that’s why I always try my best to keep spreading the word around campus about how awesome, a life and money saver the library is!

I'm a senior from Italy studying Political Science and Global Studies. I've always been a very avid reader and growing up I tried to implement my fictional and non-fictional readings into my education. At UNI I started researching for papers and loved it, which is how I ended up spending most of my time at the library. I became a Library Ambassador to help students understand how research and reading can be more pleasant thanks to all the tools offered at Rod.

I am an international student from India, and I absolutely love making documentaries and shooting pictures. I also adore reading and writing, and the thing I love the most about UNI is Rod Library, which offers an extensive amount of opportunities and resources that students often miss out. I became a Library Ambassador to help bridge the gap between the students and the library, and help them become more aware of exactly how amazing our library is.

I love to read, and Rod Library obviously has tons of books, but that's not why I love it. I love it because it has everything. Study areas, coffee, a museum, and umbrellas. What more does anyone need? I became a Library Ambassador so I can help students be more in touch with everything involved at Rod!

I love studying in the library. It is the perfect environment for me to really check in and get a lot of things done and to avoid my distractions. On the flip side, it is also where I play board games with the Northern Iowa Gaming Collective which is a ton of fun and a great way to get my mind off of work for a few hours.

My favorite part about being a Library Ambassador is that I get to help people learn more about what we offer which makes them more confident and able to do their very best in class. I love that Rod Library has librarians that are assigned to specific majors and are very knowledgeable about how to do research and cite sources. They will even come to classes to teach alongside a professor during writing assignments.

What I like most about Rod Library are the abundant number of books. Just walking in the door and seeing so many books at my disposal puts me in awe. Of course, there is also the great “Rod-tastic” staff that will bend over backward to find a book for you if our library does not have it. I became a Library Ambassador so that I can connect people with Rod Library and show them how much a library can have a positive impact on their life.

I am a senior at UNI majoring in Political Communications. I have worked at the library all four years in the Resource Management Unit and used the library frequently over my tenure as a student. I believe the library is one of the great resources to a community and I became a Library Ambassador so I could spread the word about the great work Rod Library does for UNI.
