Library Ambassadors

Library Ambassadors Program

The objective of the Library Ambassadors program is to share the library's experience with current and prospective students, their families, and the UNI community. The student volunteers advocate for the perspectives of others through conversation and example. Library Ambassadors promote the integration of services and events into the campus community and serves as a leadership experience for students.

Rod Library is a special place on campus because it welcomes all people to read, relax, and learn. My favorite area of the library is the Youth Collections. It offers rows and rows of colorful books along with quiet study space. Being an ambassador, I am hoping to share my love for libraries and the fantastic resources Rod Library has to offer with other students.

I love Rod Library because it is a great place to socialize and be alone. There is always activity in the library, which makes it a fun learning environment! My favorite place in the library are the bean bags on the 3rd floor. This year, I'm hoping to make it to as many events as possible in Rod while being a Library Ambassador.

Rod Library is such a diverse space from the lively environment of the Book Bistro, and the Youth Collections' book selection, to the peaceful study rooms. The librarians and student assistants are an excellent resource for navigation on your next research paper. My favorite place is the top floor because if you're lucky enough to find a window seat, you'll have a beautiful view of the campus while studying!

To me, the library is like my home because I study, sleep, and eat here! I became an ambassador because I wanted to expose students to the resources and the willingness to offer help for everyone to succeed. Most students don’t know the library is very digital and is beyond the books. I try my best to spread the word around campus about how excellent a life and money saver, the library is!

I love Rod Library because it is a place that welcomes and motivates me to succeed in the final year of academics. As a Library Ambassador, I hope to encourage and educate others about the benefits of our library. The booths next to the Book Bistro are my personal favorite spaces to think, drink coffee, and see friends.

What I like most about Rod Library is the abundant number of books. Walking through the stacks and seeing so many books at my disposal puts me in awe. Of course, there is also the great “Rod-tastic” staff that will bend over backward to find books or articles for you if our library does not have it. I became a Library Ambassador so that I can connect people with Rod Library and show them how much a library can have a positive impact on their life.

Rod Library quickly became an essential asset for my classes, because it provides credible resources for papers, projects, online and in-person, and so much more! As an art major, many tools are available in the Makerspace and an entire area dedicated to the Fine & Performing Arts. The UNI Museum is an excellent place for inspiration and is open for browsing during library hours. You can find one of my paintings hanging on the main floor!

Rod Library is my favorite place on campus to grab lunch (love you, Book Bistro!) and study. The Learning Center, the library's OneSearch tool, as well as the extensive materials collection, are the most valuable resources for me. As a librarian-to-be myself, I appreciate the essential qualities of the skilled librarians, library staff, and student employees that create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all. It's a great place to chill out.
