In response to public education budget cuts in the Iowan government, Benjamin J. Allen, who served as UNI president from 2006 to 2013, cut certain academic programs, lowered the athletics budget, closed the UNI Museum building, and terminated the Malcolm Price Laboratory School in 2012 at the University of Northern Iowa.
Scope and Content
This collection contains copies of print newspaper articles from various Iowa newspapers, including the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier and the Des Moines Register. The articles pertain to the program and price cuts at the University of Northern Iowa implemented by President Benjamin J. Allen in 2012. Some clippings are undated with most appearing to be from 2012. The creator of this collection is unknown by it is likely that these clippings were compiled by a library staff member.
