Scope and Content

This collection contains records, by year, of student names, attendance, deportment, scholarship, exams in subjects taken, grade points, certificates, etc. 


Box 1:  Student Grade Books, 1876-1899

1876-1883  This volume contains a record of each student's attendance, deportment, scholarship, exams in subjects taken, and an average of all of these categories.  Records were kept for each month of the school year in which the student attended school.  Students names are listed alphabetically.

1882-1887 — These volumes record the students by term and class.  Class grades are recorded in percentages.

1887-1899 — This volume records students by term.  Grade percentages are recorded for each subject, and dismissal dates are listed for some students.

Box 2:  Student Grade Books, 1899-1914

1899-1906; 1906-1911, 1911-1914 — These volumes record students alphabetically by year, term, and class.  Each subject is graded by number (i.e., 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D).

Box 3: Student Grade Books, Miscellaneous

An assortment of undated student records.

Box 4:  Examination Records, 1877-1890

These records include student name, year, date of exam, subjects, grade percentage, committee grade average, teacher grade average, total grade average, age, terms taught, and terms of attendance.

Box 5:  State Certificate Examination Records, 1900-1913

Included are student name, dates of exam, term, examiner, certificate renewals, grades, terms of experience, professional study terms, terms of training, age, credentials, residence, remarks, and date certificate was granted.

Box 6:  Teacher Certificate Examination Record, 1907-1942

This volume records student names (listed alphabetically), term, date of certificate, certificate type, subject, and grade.
