Biography

Janet Brennan Croft has been Associate University Librarian for Content Discovery at the University of Northern Iowa since August 2020. She was previously Head of Access and Delivery services at Rutgers, the State Library of New Jersey, and held the same title before that at the University of Oklahoma. She has written on library issues, particularly copyright and interlibrary loan, and is also a widely published scholar of fantasy literature and popular culture. She is the editor of Mythlore, a refereed scholarly journal focusing on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and mythopoeic fantasy in general. Under her leadership since 2006, the journal is now fully open-access online (while still publishing print and electronic subscription editions) and represented in numerous library databases and indexes. She also serves as Associate Editor and Archivist for the online open-access journal Slayage: The International Journal of Buffy+, a refereed journal now branching out from the works of Joss Whedon to encompass other “high-stakes” TV and works in the “fuzzy set” related to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
