Living With Diabetes, a personal presentation about living with the disease will be given in honor of World Diabetes Day at Rod Library on Tuesday, November 14, at 3:30 p.m. in LIB 287. The event is designed to make students aware of support for diabetic students available at UNI, in both the classroom and the dorm, and to help everyone understand the disease better.

Resh Waziri, a graduate assistant from Student Disability Services, will provide information on classroom support for diabetic students and an overview of diabetes in America. Salem Fauser from Student Health Clinic will present information regarding one-on-one health care for students. The guest speaker, Julie Ann Beddow, is a full-time staff member at Rod Library, a non-traditional UNI student, and a survivor of type 1 diabetes for 49 years. The presentation will conclude with comments from Rachel Morgan, whose son was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 3.

Equipment and other items for diabetes and low blood glucose will be displayed before and after the event. The presentation will last approximately 35 minutes.

Please contact julieann.beddow@uni.edu or wazarir@uni.edu with questions.
