Wikipedia's diversity problems are well documented. Due to a lack of diversity among Wikipedia's editorship, there are critical gaps in the information available on the free encyclopedia. We're here to fix it. This edit-a-thon will focus on adding information about people and topics that are un(der)represented from around the world to Wikipedia.
The Edit-a-ton will take place in the Third Floor Lounge before lunch and in the afternoon it will resume in room 324.
All computer skill levels are welcome. We recommend attendees create a unique Wikipedia account before the edit-a-thon, but help will be provided at the event to create an account, if needed.
We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, reference materials, childcare (please contact Angela Pratesi to reserve a spot for your child(ren) by Tuesday, April 16), and refreshments. Bring your laptop, power cord, (we will have some laptops available) and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. People of all gender identities and expressions, races and ethnicities, and religions and creeds are encouraged to participate.
