The Fantasiam of the Lost Art: Chinese Abstract Interpretations of American Retinal drawings

Details. The new exhibit features works created by medical experts at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from the 1960s to the 1980s documenting retinal conditions. The images are now revisioned and revitalized in the style of "fanatism" by 21st-century Chinese artist Xiotang Wang. This exhibit explores the boundaries between art and medicine, science and creative work, pathologies and beauty.

Event. Join Professor Stephen Russell from the University of Iowa and artist Xiotang Wang for a talk and exhibition of Chinese abstract interpretations of American retinal drawings on Monday, October 21, 6 - 8 p.m. at Rod Library in LIB 287. The event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Department of Languages and Literatures.
