New Account Option: My Reading History

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - 11:32am - Library staff members are often asked if we can give someone a list of the books they have checked out in the past. Our answer has always been, "No." The library takes seriously the privacy of your library records so we do not maintain a list of what you borrow after you return it. "My Reading History" is a new feature which allows you to track items you borrow. Some patrons have asked for this service as a means of recalling a book or author they liked or for keeping a list of what they have already read. Participation in the feature is entirely voluntary. You may start or stop using it, as well as delete any or all entries in "My Reading History”, at any time. If you choose to start... Read More

Atlas of Black Hawk County 1926

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - 11:31am - Rod Library has just added a copy of the "Atlas of Black Hawk County 1926" to its Digital Collections. This book provides a unique look at our county in a different era where the township assumed great importance in local government. The ideal civil township was six miles square, and the township held elections, repaired roads, and gave relief to the poor. In addition to the detailed township maps in this volume you can find farmers' directories which detail the owner (or renter) of each parcel of land, his wife, children, and how many years he had lived in the county. Update on the Rod Library Recurring Materials Budget

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - 10:47am - As you may be aware, the Rod Library recurring materials budget has been protected, and will not be reduced as part of the University's budget reduction measures being implemented in FY 09-10. This is good news for the entire University community. However, the materials budget has been static for the last seven years. This situation already has led us to substantially reduce periodical and other serial subscriptions as well as one-time expenditures for monographs and other resources, such as cds and DVDs. In preparation for the coming year, bibliographers in the Library’s Collection Management and Special Services Department have begun to consider how they will balance ongoing commitments with one-time...
