Chronicle of Higher Education now ONLINE!!!

Monday, April 30, 2012 - 10:54am -  Rod Library has just started a site license to the electronic version of "The Chronicle of Higher Education."  Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff can access this title from any computer on campus and, after authenticating with their CatID, from off-campus as well.

Rod Library E-Book and Printed Book Survey

Thursday, April 19, 2012 - 9:41am - Rod Library wants to hear your ideas about printed/paper books and electronic books (e-books). A survey will be conducted from Monday, April 16 through Tuesday, May 1, to learn the UNI community's preferences for printed/paper books or e-books. The survey will be online (http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22FCJ8Q5YLV) and printed copies may be found in the library lobby. Trivia contest for a free Nook to run one more day - no thanks to Facebook!!!

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 - 12:16pm - Facebook decided to do site maintenance today and the Rod Library page (with trivia question #3) would show up, then disappear, show up, then disappear.  Frustrating!!!Because of the problems with the site on Wednesday, we will run question 3 again on Thursday so you all have a chance to enter.  We'll put question 4 on Friday and question 5 on Monday, April 16. We'll announce the winner on Friday, April 20!!!!!

Help celebrate National Library Week and win a Nook!

Thursday, April 5, 2012 - 5:32pm - National Library Week is April 8-14.  To help celebrate, enter Rod Library's trivia contest on its Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/rodlibrary  We'll post a question every day of National Library Week.  The person who correctly answers the most questions will win a Nook!  In the case of a tie, we will randomly select a winner.(Unfortunately, Rod Library employees, including Library student assistants, cannot enter.)Keep your eyes open!  You may also get a prize from the "Search Patrol" looking for signs of intelligent life on campus and when better than during National Library Week?   

Dave Hoing Has Several Creative Works Published

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 - 10:11am - Several of Dave Hoing's short stories have been published recently. Dave's short story "Mercy" was published in this month's issue of the online Frontier Tales Magazine. The magazine also published Dave's "The Dead-Line" a few months ago. Both stories are examples of flash fiction, a popular genre also known as short-short stories. Dave's story "In an Old Man's Lap" was published in the October issue of Flash Fiction. That magazine has published several other Hoing stories in the past, two of which were nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize.
