Friday, October 19, 2012 - 2:27pm - Did you know that today is Geologic Map Day? Geologic Map Day 2012, a special event designed to promote awareness of geologic mapping and its vital importance to society. As an extension of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program, Geologic Map Day focuses the attention of students, teachers, and the general public on the study, uses, and significance of geologic maps for education, science, business, and a variety of public policy concerns. Color Printing

Thursday, October 18, 2012 - 7:50am -  Color Printing is here!!  To print in color from a public workstation, change the default printer to "2 Lobby-COLOR" and choose "Color" as a print option.   Follow the screen prompts and retrieve your print job from the color printer/copier in the 2nd Floor Lobby.  Price is .50 per page that will be charged to your U-bill.  If you need any assistance don't hesitate to ask for assistance from the Circulation or Reference desk.

Light Fixture Upgrade Begins Tuesday

Monday, October 15, 2012 - 10:29am - Beginning Tuesday, October 16, the Library's light fixtures on the first, second, and third floors will receive an upgrade.  As of July 14, 2012, the Department of Energy mandated the production of T12 lamps (bulbs) will be phased out.  The fixtures on the first three floors of the building use T12 lamps.  The project beginning Tuesday will replace the ballasts, bulbs, and light covers for all T12 fixtures in the building and replace them with T8 components.  At the end of the project the Library's lighting will be more consistent through the building and slightly brighter.In order for this work to take place banks of lights will be turned off for periods of time during the day hours.  Your... New JSTOR Arts & Sciences Collections – 100s of Periodicals

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - 1:22pm - Rod Library is expanding access to electronic journals with its recent purchase of the JSTOR Arts & Sciences Collections V-VIII.  These collections complement the previously purchased Arts & Sciences Collections I-IV.  Hundreds of scholarly journals in numerous disciplines, including Business and Economics, Education, History, Language and Literature, Mathematics and Statistics, and Music, are now available.  Go to the Library home page and click on the  ”Databases A –Z” menu for which there is a link on the “Articles” tab.  On the next screen, select "JSTOR" from the menu. Arabic-Language Resources

Monday, October 1, 2012 - 9:18am - Recently, the Library was asked to provide access to Arabic-language newspapers.  The good news is that it already does!  More than 30 Arabic-language newspapers are available in electronic format through the Library’s subscription to the PressDisplay database, which provides access to recent issues of newspapers across the world.  To access the database go to the Library homepage and select the “Databases A-Z “ link that appears in the box with the “Articles” tab.  The PressDisplay homepage may be customized for an Arabic user interface.  Available newspapers may be identified by clicking on the arrow to the right of the “Select Title” button at the...
