Presentation on Library Space Trends

Monday, September 30, 2013 - 9:46pm - Sam Demas, of Sam Demas Collaborative Consulting, will be giving a presentation on "Library Building Design: Trends and Issues" from 4:00-5:30 pm in the Maucker Union University Room on Tuesday October 1.The University Room is in the lower level of the building.No RSVP is required. Everyone is invited to attend.  Come hear how libraries are changing to meet higher technological expectations and the evolving needs of today's students.

Library Feasibility Study 2013

Monday, September 30, 2013 - 9:06pm - Rod Library and Facilities Planning are embarking on a semester-long library building feasibility study. With the development of thelearning commons(link is external), other space changes that have been suggested, and the integration of the UNI Museums(link is external) into the building, we thought it would be prudent to take a more systematic look at library space. We've hired OPN Architects(link is external), who just completed the Redeker project and who recently designed the Cedar Rapids Public Library, to work with us. Student Focus Group Sessions

Sunday, September 29, 2013 - 4:08pm - All UNI students are invited to the Student Focus Group sessions on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Library.  The sessions will be held on the main floor behind the Reference Desk (follow the signs!).The focus group sessions will be a time for students to share your ideas about what Rod Library needs to be in the future to meet your needs.  Come help us design the Library of the future!

Coffee Special - Mocha Nut Fudge

Sharing the Results: You Talk. We Listen. We All Win!

Wednesday, September 18, 2013 - 3:56pm - In the spring of 2013, Rod Library conducted the LibQUAL+ survey, better known as "You Talk. We Listen. We All Win!" We asked the campus community to tell us how well we are doing as a library, what we could improve upon, and to give us insight into what the UNI campus community expects from Rod Library.  We are happy to share the results with all of you.  You can find a summary report, a full report, and a spreadsheet of the comments we received at Assessment Results.    

A-Team Tutoring in the Browsing Room

Monday, September 9, 2013 - 12:21pm - Are you looking for tutoring or feedback in some of your courses? Visit the A-Team on Sunday nights from 6 to 9 p.m., in Rod Library, starting Sept. 8. The A-Team provides help for students in math, science, writing, Spanish, and college reading and study strategies for humanities, business, and all your other courses. A-Team is located on the second floor of the Library in the Browsing Room, to the right of the main entrance. The A-Team is sponsored by the Academic Learning Center.

Monday, September 9, 2013 - 11:24am - Have you ever wondered what good 'ole mom, dad, grandma, or grandpa looked like as a student here at UNI? Well now you can find this and many more interesting historical facts and pictures at our newly-completed UNI Yearbook digital collection! Starting with the 1905 Normal Eyte to the 1997 Old Gold you can see many unique pictures of life on campus. You might just be able to surprise your parents or grandparents with some interesting or "entertaining" college photos, so check it out!!

Renovation Work to Begin on Third Floor

Monday, September 9, 2013 - 8:43am - Today Porter and Porter Construction and their sub-contractors will begin renovating rooms 378, 379, 380 and 381 on the third floor of the Library.  At the end of the project the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning/Liberal Arts Core offices will be located in these spaces.  Look for more information on CETL/LAC in the next few weeks.They will be painting the rooms, installing new ceiling tile, adding electrical and data connections, and installing a service point just outside the offices.  We are very excited to have the CETL/LAC offices and staff in the Library soon!
