University Avenue Environmental Assessment - in print and online

Thursday, October 31, 2013 - 10:38am - A copy of the the University Avenue/IA 934 From IA 58 to U.S. 63 Black Hawk County, Iowa Environmental Assessment and De Minimis Impact Finding from the Iowa Department of Transportation is available for public viewing.   This item has been placed on Permanent Reserve at the MultiService Center desk located on the main floor of the library.  It is available for a 3 hour check out but cannot be taken out of the building.  There are scanners and copiers available if there are certain pages you want to copy. If you are not affiliated with UNI, you can use your visitor's card or driver's license to check this item out.  The online version can be accessed via http... New CHRIEC Rural Schools Web Site

Thursday, October 24, 2013 - 11:06am - Check out the new web site of the Center for the History of Rural Iowa Education and Culture (CHRIEC) created by staff of the UNI Museums as part of a project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Center makes available diverse resources that support the study of the history of public education in Iowa. Did you know that Iowa had over 12,000 one-room schools? On the web site you will find information about an extensive collection of official records documenting Iowa's rural schools, photographic exhibits, a bibliography of reference materials with links to Internet resources, and descriptions of a rural school textbook collection and school memorabilia. Friday, October 11, 2013 - 10:52am - Thanks to everyone who came to the Library last week to meet with OPN Architects in the Feasibility Study focus groups!  You gave OPN a lot of great information about where we are as a library now and where we should go in the future.If you were not able to attend a focus group but would like to share YOUR ideas on the future design of Rod Library send us your thoughts on the Feedback Form.  If you would like to share general comments on the feasibility study please use the Feedback Form as well.  

Comic Con

Thursday, October 10, 2013 - 1:17pm - The Rod Library will be hosting a mini comic con on March 29, 2014.  As you can see,  we need your help!  We are seeking artwork submissions in the following categories:Black History in ComicsWomen's History in ComicsGeneral ThemeA graphic novel about the resources available at the Rod Library Deadline for submissions is Friday, December 13th.  Entries may be submitted either in person to the Circulation desk of the Rod Library, or via e-mail ro rodlibprc@gmail.com  

Presentation on Library Design Trends Available Online

Tuesday, October 8, 2013 - 10:09am -  Sam Demas presented on "Library Building Design: Trends and Issues" on Tuesday, Octrober 1 in Maucker Union.  This presentation was made as a part of the Library's Building Feasibility Study.  See how Libraries are changing to meet the needs of their users in unique and comfortable ways!If you cannot hear the presentation hover your mouse over the speaker, then move the slider that appears next to the speaker symbol to increase the sound level.  This is a YouTube issue apparently.

They're back! iPhone Chargers

Monday, October 7, 2013 - 9:38am - We now have the regular iPhone chargers available for checkout plus the charger for the iPhone 5!  All of these chargers checkout for a 3 hour time period and can be checked out from the Multiservice Center desk, main floor of the Library.
