Around the World in 180 Minutes

Monday, October 26, 2015 - 11:17am -   The second annual Around the World in 180 Minutes event will take place on Wednesday, November 18th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons at Rod Library. Come join us in celebrating International Education Week and learn about new cultures! This event allows visitors to “experience the world” in three hours or less by visiting booths from various countries. Over 25 countries will be represented: Brazil, Japan, Germany, and Saudi Arabia to name a few. Photos Needed of Military and Veterans

Monday, October 26, 2015 - 9:17am - The UNIVA will be displaying photos of military and veterans during the month of November on Rod Library’s Learning Commons Exhibition Wall. We encourage students, faculty, and staff to submit photos for the exhibit. Additionally, we will also be displaying a memorial wall, listing names of those military and veterans no longer with us. If you would like to be a part of this exhibit, please submit quality photos of yourself, family or friends in uniform, or names for the memorial wall, to Kathryn Ira (irak@uni.edu) or to the Military Veterans Students Services Office, 111G Maucker Union, Plaza Level. UNI Museum Grand Re-opening

Monday, October 5, 2015 - 12:00pm - The UNI Museum will be hosting its grand re-opening October 31st, from 11-3. This event will celebrate our new home in the Rod Library and highlight some of the exciting changes that have happened for us at the University of Northern Iowa. This reception will unveil three new exhibits to usher in our newest incarnation. Lighting Up: Drug Culture Around the World, created by one of our interns, focuses on the changing perceptions towards drug culture from the Victorian era to the 1960’s. Dia de los Muertos will feature displays created in conjunctions with UNI’s Hispanic Latino Student Union. Disability Justice: Past, Present, Future

Friday, October 2, 2015 - 12:00pm - Come examine disability as a social justice issue in our film and discussion series, Disability Justice: Past, Present, Future.  The year 2015 marks the 25th anniversary of landmark civil rights legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), championed by Iowa Senator Tom Harkin.
