Overcoming Obstacles to Create Positive Change

Overcoming Obstacles to Create Positive Change

The Rod Library will be hosting Dr. Jeffrey S. Copeland in our newly renovated Scholarspace on the 3rd Floor @ 4pm February 24th. All are welcome to attend.

Dr. Copeland's talk will focus on three of his books: Inman's War: A Soldier's Story of Life in a Colored Battalion in WW II; Olivia's Story: The Conspiracy of Heroes Behind 'Shelley v. Kraemer"; and Ain't No Harm to Kill the Devil: The Life and Legend of John Fairfield, Abolitionist for Hire.  In each book, which are all based upon true stories, the main characters -- of all races, creeds, and backgrounds -- work together, at great personal risk, to build change and foster growth in the fight for justice and equality for all.

Jeffrey S. Copeland has authored and edited over two dozen books, including  Inman's War: A Soldier's Story of Life in a Colored Battalion in WWII, Olivia's Story: The Conspiracy of Heroes Behind 'Shelley V. Kraemer',  Shell Games: The Life and Times of Pearl McGill, Industrial Spy and Pioneer Labor Activist,  Ain't No Harm to Kill the Devil: The Life and Legend of John Fairfield, Abolitionist for Hire, and Young Adult Literature: A Contemporary Reader.  He is  professor in the Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Northern Iowa.
