May Displays: Let's Celebrate Children's Book Week!

Letters with images from children's books spell out CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK over a display of youth literature

Our main Youth display this month is a celebration of Children's Book Week. May 2-8, 2016, is the 97th anniversary of this celebration of books for young readers and literacy. The yearly event week is sponsored by several non-profit organizations including Every Child a Reader and Children’s Book Council. Children's Book Week promotes the life-changing power of children's books and literacy. We've displayed many of our favorite titles to help you celebrate!

More children's books are displayed above text reading "Reading Gives Your Imagination Wings" and an image of butterflies emerging from an open book

In our blue boxes, we're celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week and Transportation Week.

Teacher Appreciation Week is an opportunity to appreciate everything that teachers do today and have accomplished throughout history--the significance of a teacher should never be undervalued!

Meanwhile, our Transportation Week display includes books on all sorts of transportation. Many people will be leaving UNI for the summer by car--but traveling by plane is so much faster! Perhaps your summer plans include a train trip through Europe or a trip around the Caribbean islands by boat. Or maybe you're curious about life behind the wheel of a semi truck! No matter what your vehicle of choice, you can read all about it from this blue box display.

This month's In the News books include titles about allergies, politics, and thunderstorms.
