Faculty StudiesMonday, January 30, 2017 - 4:13pm - Rod Library is again able to offer faculty study rooms to current full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members and emeritus faculty and staff members.
Faculty who are interested in applying for a faculty study room for spring semester should fill out the online application and review the updated use policy. The rooms will be assigned beginning February 1. Please contact Susan Basye (susan.basye@uni.edu, 273-3638) with questions about these spaces.

Join us in Rod Library every other Tuesday beginning Jan 10 @ 12:15 - 12:45 p.m. in Special Collections and University Archives to hear librarians, professors, fellow students, and occasional authors read aloud from a different book each session. Together, we’ll discover short stories, poems, and novels, both famous and little-known, from UNI’s post-1960s American Fiction Collection -- but ONLY as much as our bite-sized time slot allows for. #MeetTheStaff - Anne Marie GruberWednesday, January 11, 2017 - 9:00am - Meet Anne Marie Gruber. At Rod Library, she is an Instruction and Liaison Librarian–meaning she’s the “go-to” librarian for teaching and research help for various science departments, social work, family services, education leadership/post-secondary education, and several other departments. That might sound overwhelming to some, but for Gruber, it’s all about the students and helping them with their research needs. In fact, that’s her favorite aspect of working at Rod Library.

Compact Shelving, 1st Floor changesTuesday, January 10, 2017 - 6:00am - As you may be aware, the compact shelving on the library’s first floor has been broken for almost a year and a half. We have been working on replacing the shelving but the cost is prohibitive. The shelves have become too dangerous for staff to retrieve items and the print journals housed within them are still of interest to researchers. As a result, we have decided to remove seating and construct shelving to make these journals more accessible.
This spring shelving will be constructed in several main seating areas on the first floor to accommodate the over 4,000 shelves of pre-1985 periodicals. Some furniture in these areas will be shifted from first floor to other floors of the... Read More |

Rock the StacksWednesday, January 4, 2017 - 2:57pm - Ease into the semester with mellow version of UNI Museum's Rock the Stacks with singer-songwriter J. Jeffrey Messerole on Thursday, January 19th from 7-9pm on the 1st Floor. Along with Messerole's storytelling concert, he will also tell the stories behind the songs.
