Active Learning / MultiPurpose Room (324)

The Active Learning / MultiPurpose room on the third floor is available for groups or individuals affiliated with the university who need a presentation practice area or a larger space for group work.

Book Bistro Area

The Book Bistro cafe area is located near the west entrance on the main level.  You will find popular books, current newspapers, board games, and DVDs on the nearby shelves.



Collaborative Workstations

Eight collaborative work stations are located on the main floor in the Learning Commons and on the third floor in Room 324.  These stations are equipped with the latest Office software, a multimedia package, and dual monitors to better facilitate group work. 

Digital Media Hub

The Digital Media Hub, located on the main floor, is a large conference room with two 72-inch wall-mounted monitors. It can seat up to 35 people.

Faculty Study Rooms

Faculty study rooms are available on the fourth floor.

Group Study and Viewing Rooms

Study rooms are located on the third and fourth floors. These rooms are intended for groups of up to six students who wish to study together. Group viewing rooms are available on the first floor.

Learning Commons

The Learning Commons is a vibrant, comfortable social space equipped with 21st century tools, technology, and services that support students’ academic success.

Library Instruction Room 373

Room 373, on the third floor, is primarily reserved for library instruction. Teaching faculty are encouraged to request instruction for their classes provided the class will be taught by a library faculty/staff member and provided that the request for instruction is made at least two weeks in advance of the planned instruction session.

Makerspace (286)

The Makerspace area, on the main floor, is designed for collaborative building projects, maker meetings, and arts and crafts projects.  Inside the Makerspace you can find:

Meeting Room 218

Meeting Room 272

Room 272, located on the main floor, can be reserved as a meeting space. It includes a monitor and can seat up to 25 people.

Multimedia Suite

The multimedia suite, Rooms 222 A and B, is on the main floor and includes two soundproof recording rooms. Both rooms are equipped with a keyboard and a computer.

Production Rooms

The production rooms, located on the main floor, include a control room studio and a green screen studio. 

Projection/Whiteboard Wall

The Learning Commons recently installed a projection and whiteboard wall for presentations and video conferences. In this open area, classes can meet for special events and activities that would benefit from a large projected image or expansive whiteboard space.


Rod Library’s ScholarSpace is a venue where research and scholarship occurring at UNI can be shared and celebrated.  Located on the third floor, the space has seating for up to 96 people.

SurfaceHub Conference Room (287)

Room 287, located on the main floor, can be reserved for use as a meeting room. It includes a monitor and ten tables and can seat 30 people.
