COVID-19 Update: The library will be closed to the public until further notice. Our goal is to continue to make as many of our services available as possible. A guide to "Remote Resources for Library Users" is available on our website.

Collection Drive Guidelines

Recognized student groups or academic departments/classes may request permission to place a collection box in Learning Commons, Rod Library by emailing the Learning Commons Coordinator (gail.bunz@uni.edu).  The request should include the following information:

  • Name of the UNI organization
  • Contact name, email, and phone number
  • Specific dates of the drive (beginning and ending)
  • Purpose of the drive and the items to be collected.

A request must be submitted two weeks before the beginning of the collection drive.

Only one organization may be scheduled to conduct a collection drive at any one time.

Collection boxes will be accepted for up to two weeks at a time and must be picked up promptly at the end of the scheduled time.  If donated items are not picked up on the agreed upon date, they will be given to a local charity.

The containers must be clearly labeled as to the sponsoring organization and with what the donations will be used for.

We cannot accept collection boxes for money, only goods (food, household items, etc.).

Organization is responsible for taking care of the collection containers.  The Rod Library will not be held responsible for stolen, damaged, and/or lost property. University staff will be allowed to move containers for cleaning and maintenance purposes.
